2027 Politics: Aliyu Barde Consults Youth, Women Groups in Katsina
Katsina, December 21, 2025
Ahead of the 2027 general elections, a Katsina-based politician, Hon. Aliyu Ilu Barde, has met with youth groups, women advocacy organisations and other stakeholders in the state, signalling his intention to join the political race.
The consultative meeting was held on Sunday at his office in the GRA area of Katsina metropolis and attracted representatives of various groups, including women advocacy organisations, Sabon Layi Youth Development Forum, 25K Million Awareness, Ten Million for a Better Nigeria, residents of Modoji community, as well as other civil society groups.
Speaking during the meeting, Barde said the decision to consider contesting in 2027 was based on repeated calls from members of the public who, according to him, are satisfied with his political orientation and contributions to the development of Katsina State despite not holding any public office.
He said he had remained a committed supporter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umar Radda.
“I was actively involved in the campaigns for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Dikko Umar Radda. I went round all the 34 local government areas of Katsina State to canvass support for them. The people trusted me and did not disappoint me. Today, they are calling on me to contest, and I will not let them down,” he said.
Barde called on the various groups to work together to build a strong political structure capable of delivering success in the next elections, stressing that unity and grassroots mobilisation were critical to electoral victory.
He, however, noted that he was yet to disclose the specific office he intends to seek, adding that a formal announcement would be made in due course.
According to him, his decision to contest is driven by the need to provide effective representation and to create opportunities for young people, arguing that some current office holders have failed to utilise the opportunities of their positions to advance youth development.
The meeting ended with leaders of the participating groups expressing their readiness to continue engagement and consultations aimed at promoting inclusive and people-oriented politics in Katsina State ahead of the 2027 elections.
